[ got to seal it with a kiss, as they say, and what even is self restraint. she had held out long enough, and it was hard to hide how delighted she was with how things had turned out over the course of the evening. ]
[ his reaction is adorable, and definitely something she's going to remember. ]
It's crazy, right... [ said softly. ] but they're something special cause by someone special. [ she gives him a smile, leaning in to gently bring their foreheads together as she cups his cheek. ] I'm sorry I'm rambling... it's just that I'm on cloud nine. Maybe even ten at this point, haha.
[While D.Va was giddy, Griffin was awed instead. Breathless, filled with reverent wonder that wanted only to bask in her sparkling energy. He looked at her like he wanted this moment to last forever.]
Special doesn't cover it. You're... irreplaceable.
[With a shy, cautious smile, he ventured,] Maybe one day, um. You'll even be over the moon.
[IF SHE'S OKAY. CONTINUING TO BE PATIENT WITH HIM. It's a wonder she stuck it out this long.]
Me…? [ o- oh, uhm, uh, w- wow. griffin. g- griffin please! flustered, d.va chuckles, because what is an appropriate reaction. he’s absolutely caught her off guard with that. now who is being as cool as ice! ]
[ she shuts her eyes for a minute and sucks in a shuddering breath to get a hold of herself, since all she’s been doing is babbling the abundance of feelings that had come to an immediate boil the moment he told her he finally felt the same. ]
You’re irreplaceable too. I… I wouldn’t have waited if…
[ and though there’s already precious little space in between them she tries to bring him closer. ] How about right now? [ she kisses him again - slower, deeper, and pouring all her feelings into it. ]
[He's not cool he's sappy as hell. Griffin's heart is bursting through his eardrums as she pulls him in and he obeys. He. Doesn't mind that, he realizes.]
Ah...
[It's obvious he's a novice. When he starts kissing back it's awkward and shy - taking small sips of her, before gradually trying to copy her motions. Just with less grace and boldness.
He just wants so badly to please. But he has to break for air first, panting and breathy.]
[ and that's fine. they all have to start somewhere and it's not like she had been an expert to start. not to mention it's kind of charming in it's own way. she dials it back a bit, so she can guide him through the motions with ease. ]
[ when the kiss breaks she stays close and smiles, their breath mingling as she nods. ] Better than okay. Give yourself some credit and, hey, can I... can I tell you something... [ her face flushes as she hesitates and then, ] You know when you meet someone and you can just sort'a tell they're, like, way special... [ she pokes his chest. ] that was you... and I'm real sorry if I had, like, totally freaked you out back then by blurting out feelings and stuff. I'm glad though, real glad that, like, ... [ she leans forward and buries her face into his chest, giving it a nuzzle. ] I like you a ton, Griffin, and I was over the moon back then.
[...Honestly he's kinda speechless. That D.Va's feelings sparked for him the moment they met. It was a wonder that anyone could tell, just like that - love at first sight wasn't something he'd ever thought about.
Then again, back then, love wasn't something he thought about, period.
Fondly, he strokes her hair, smoothing it over the top of her head where he leaned down to plant a doting kiss.]
You don't need t'be sorry about anything.
Honestly, I'm so dense I probably would've never picked it up if you hadn't said anything. So... I'm glad you did. Otherwise I might never have even tried to think about my feelings at all.
[ she's real passionate and keeping her feelings in check is just not something she's all that good at doing, so she had just kind of let them get the better of her, and that's why she'd blurted all that at when she had met him. it's not like she could have hidden it if she wanted to anyway. she's pretty sure she made her feelings known for king too. ]
[ but then griffin had gotten skittish because she had come on too strong and the following bunch of encounters had been... difficult. for her at least, because she didn't want to spoil the friendship she had because she cherished that, a lot, so she fought with herself, trying to keep everything else under lock & key. ]
[ she's not sure if that was the best course of action, because... well... whatever. ]
[ second best. again. ]
[ she leans into him, closing her eyes and smiling as he kisses her head. ] I'm glad too, because I... I want to try this, as long as you do. As long as it's okay. If she's okay with it, I mean.
I'm okay. And Shrike-- she said you were cute, actually.
I just... [He hesitates, and nuzzles into the top of D.Va's head to reassure himself] I mean it when I say you're special. I've... never really had friends before. I didn't even think I was worth liking.
And... even if I'm not sure that I'd be enough for anyone, I'm. [He swallows] I'm going to do my best to make you happy.
...! she said I was cute? [ don't mind her turning a few shades of pink. ] H- Heh.
[ and the next confession of his sure doesn't help that any. it's cute though, and has her smile broadening. ] I think you're worth liking and then some. I mean, like, obviously. You're nice and sweet and let's not forget st- st- st- stylin'. But, for real though... you're one my best friends and I'm real glad and thankful, lucky too!, that we've had the chance to grow so close.
You make me really happy, Griffin, you always have and you always will. Don't compare yourself to anybody, because nobody but you can be you. [ she tips her head back and gives him an awkward kiss on the side of the face, probably. ]
[In this rare bizarro world where D.Va wants Intensity to show restraint, he complies. Dropping the speed to a modest 200. That's more than enough for him to still be a terror on the highway though. Good thing there aren't any other cars.]
Is this void a fleet of vehicles?
[And laughs]
A van? Please. Don't tell me you got stuck with soccer mom duty for Heart Soldier. They can get their own transportation.
[ GOOD THING. and, ouch, he hit the nail on the head with that. she makes a face at him. ] It might be. If I had been on FiN I probably could have had a personal assistant mini mech or something... [ sighs. she could have also worked all of the tech here, which is something that irks her on occasion. like, her workshop is pretty fucken useless. she tried learning another hobby and it just wasn't the same. only snaps out of her thoughts when he starts poking fun of her van. ]
I like my van, thank you very much. And would you trust any of them behind the wheel, no. Driving is my job. Soccer mom during the day and, IDK, [ vague hand motions. ] racecar driver by night.
...well, there is something else, but I have to wait until I have enough points. It's actually what I'd hit you up about when pre-hell-venture started, but that'll have to wait. It'll be something real interesting, that I can promise.
Just remember to call an experiment live, so I can get more points. An experiment in driving me crazy. [ more laughter. ] I don't think even half of them know what a car is, though thankfully from being here they've learned. Ohhhh, this will certainly be something else...
[ ...she whines at the thought. her poor car. don't mind her leaning her head on the window and setting a hand on the car door. ] I need to be the first one to run her ragged, so that's our job today. We're going to drive her into the ground.
I'm going to keep you in suspense. It'll be more fun that way. And don't hate the players, Intensity, hate the game.
[ she keeps a loose grip on the wheel so he can move it as his leisure, only gripping it hard when she wants to tighten any of the turns or other maneuvers he’s making, though she doesn’t do it often or really at all, because at these speeds the slightest miscalculation could send the car rolling down the highway. ]
[ ...brakes, pft, who needs ‘em. ]
I’m glad this place is deserted and all, but it would be a bit more interesting with a few others around to eat our dust. The vid room is great and all, but there’s nothing like this...
