[well, he'll be waiting at the entrance to HSS when she returns. he's not leaning on his cane, and he doesn't look particularly tired or worn out, and there's even some color in his cheeks]
[ she's come in the balcony and sneaks to the front door, opening it and... huh, ok, w o w, she's surprised to see him looking like that. ] R- Raven?! [ oh, shit, she needs to shhhh!!! she grabs his arm and drags him to her room for a hug; slapping the door shut with her tail. ]
...if and when I have pleasant dreams, [ she turns her head to kiss his cheek. ] you’re there, Raven. [ smiles, just content to hold him for another couple of minutes. ]
[ but then she’s stepping back to look him over once again, her eyes combing over his “new” body. arches a brow at him, face stern. ] And why can’t you tell me? Don’t you trust me to keep a secret?
[the notches on his shoulders are hard to notice if you're not looking for them specifically, but his tattoos--which are all present now--seem to be... moving slightly?]
That's not it. I can tell you only a little. I'll be in a lot of trouble if I let slip the details.
[ she combs her fingers through her hair, pressing more firmly a few seconds in and dragging her sharp nails along her scalp. ]
I... I get feeling scared and helpless, but this is, god, it might seem good now, but it’s bad. I wish we could have talked before you decided to do this. All of these damn demons are using us.
[he lowers his eyes, quiet for a while, before taking a deep breath and letting it out]
I didn't contact a demon. It's just the cover story for what really happened. Glory found a way to heal my body, but couldn't tell me how. She came back this morning with a bead and I swallowed it, and it worked.
It sounds like she might have done the contacting... but I guess it doesn't matter, because, like you said, it helped, and... things had been kind of... dire. [ she reaches out to him and tugs him close. ] I'll keep it to myself, not to worry. But... thank you for trusting me. [ swallows. ] I just have a thing... with demons and contracts and... [ shivers. ] I just don't want to see what's happening to me happening to you, t- that's all.
I understand. It's just... a delicate situation. As far as anyone knows, I promised a demon to do tasks for them in exchange for healing me. Although... it did come with a few additions.
...so, like, that' part is all part of the lie? [ she sets a hand on his shoulder and runs it along his arms. ] Like the tattoos? I noticed they... move...

[but he can tell her the basics, at least]
I contacted a demon, and we made an arrangement.
Re: Day 287
[ ...she immediately goes pale. ] W- What?! Why! We had a number of other avenues we could have tried. Why would you make a deal with the devil?
[ smushes a hand straight into her face and heaves a deep breath. ] That’s stupid and dangerous a- and... and...

I admit that I was desperate, and I wasn't going to wait for more of my body to fall apart. I'm sorry... I didn't reach out. I was... scared.

Please... don't tell anyone the truth.
